Remembering the Story of Lonesome George in the Galapagos Islands

Four years after his death, Lonesome George returns to the Galapagos Islands to be displayed at the “Fausto Llerena” Breeding Center on Santa Cruz Island. The emblematic giant tortoise lived for 40 years in the facilities of the Charles Darwin Research Station and despite the efforts made to find another member of its kind or to be able to reproduce George, his species is now considered extinct.
